I am participating in the CHOC Walk on Sunday, October 30, 2016
I am super humbled by the outpouring of love, generousity, and support for Team KAILUALANI for the last 9 years. I would like to thank my team for the their hard work and dedication through our fundraisers and events to support our walk efforts. It is with great excitement that this year we celebrate 10 years of walking for kids. In 2016, we will continue to raise awareness in our community and to give back with Aloha.
It is with your love and support that I continue to grow but from the beginning, CHOC has been a part of my journey. I was born with a congenital heart condition and diagnosed with a rare chromosome abnormality (partial deletion of #7) at just 10 months. This diagnosis came with no prognosis as the expert team at the CHOC Genetics Center have yet to find another documented patient like me. I guess you can say I am one of a kind - that's what my parents tell me anyway. Because of the unknown, my family and I take it one day at a time, learn as we go, and praise God for our many blessings each and every day.
I am now 19, and some may say too old to be called Baby K but that's what my family calls me anyway. I am considered Special Needs as I am intellectually disabled however, that will never define me. I am just a typical teenager. I enjoy school, plays sports, like to travel, and frequent Disneyland. I adore (writing in) books, avoid bedtime, and love to make people smile. Above all, I love to laugh, I Love my music, and I really really LOVE to dance.
I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to give back to CHOC for years of personal care given to me and for the future children of CHOC. Please join me in my efforts to raise needed funds to support the care, services, education and research that CHOC Children’s provides children in our community.
Mahalo for visiting my page. Your support will help ensure our kids’ futures will be brighter than ever!
